Major General Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam, an Iranian engineer and senior military officer, the main architect of the Iranian missile system and the founder of Iran's deterrent power, was the chief of the "self-sufficiency" unit of the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution.

His brother, Mohammad Tehrani, who was present at the ceremony, explained that Maj. Gen. Tehrani's followers have strived to run a non-profit research institute, not one run by the state, which makes Central Tehran IAU a worthy home for the center.
