Dr. Farhad Rahbar:
According to ISCA, Dr. Farhad Rahbar stated that IAU will provide research and scientific services for R&D departments, with the objective of creating added value.
"We aim to increase the contribution of science and research to national production and raise the share of R&D to between 3 and 4 percent of of the GDP from its current 0.5 percent," said the professor of economic sciences, who has recently been elected as president of the Islamic Azad University and believes the relative freedom of the IAU in interacting with various public and private entities is instrumental to its success and prosperity.
Dr. Rahbar added that each manufacturing and industrial unit would run a research and development section therefore, IAU will provide academic research services at no charge. He spoke of the rationale for this approach as "creating opportunities for researchers to increase their courage in the field of research and technology, with the help of the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology."
The IAU acting president also noted that the establishment and development of international ties are another IAU priority, so in order to meet the university’s goals, the speed of academic contribution and capabilities should be matched with international interactions and the activities of world universities. He emphasized that joint research, exchanging students and faculty members, and creating sabbatical opportunities are on the university agenda.
Dr. Rahbar also noted that social justice is a serious concern in today's society and educational justice is one of its most important components. He explained that educational justice means creating equal educational opportunities in all regions, deprived or otherwise, of the country.
